Croatia is my country of birth.
This country is so special to me. I still have family there on a little Island in the middle of the Adriatic, a place called Lastovo.
Croatia has become the hot spot over the past few years due to Game of Thrones but it not just that, the National Football Team is not too bad as well, considering Croatia has a similar population as we do in New Zealand.
With airlines such as Qatar and Emirates having one stop flights to the capital Zagreb, it has never been easier to get to Croatia now.
Croatia is one of Europe’s sunniest spots with crystal clear turquoise waters. It is also very good value for money as they have still kept their local currency, the Kuna, which makes shopping, drinking and eating out very affordable.
The Diocletian’s Palace in Split, is a buzzing heart of the city with ancient columns, temples, walls and underground cellars that was once the Roman Emperors summer home. Now you will find dozens of hidden bars, restaurants and shops. I can also find you an amazing little room or “Soba” where you can stay the night right within the Palace walls.
Croatia also has eight national parks, including the Unesco- listed Plitvice Lakes and Krka, both of which are famous for their stunning waterfalls and lakes.
Did you know that Island Korcula is the birth place of Marco Polo? It is true, but if you are not interested in history, I can send you to the other Islands either Hvar or Rab as these Islands are the playgrounds of the rich and famous with incredible bars, nightlife and world famous music festivals.
